Web Design and Development — Astro and Cloudflare
Fast, secure marketing sites and internal web apps — Astro, Tailwind, and TypeScript on Cloudflare Pages and Workers, with SEO and structured data built in. This site is shipped that way.
Most small-business websites are slow, bloated with third-party scripts, and rented from a page builder that owns your content and charges you every month to keep it online. When you want a change, you wait on an agency queue. When you want to move, you find out the site was never really yours.
I build the other kind: fast, secure sites and web apps that you own outright, on infrastructure that costs almost nothing to run. As a senior IT contractor I treat a website the way I treat any other production system — version-controlled, documented, and handed off so it keeps working long after the engagement ends. I do it remote-first from Fort Worth and across the DFW metro.
What done looks like
Done is a site that loads in well under a second, scores in the 90s on Core Web Vitals, and reads correctly to both people and the search engines and AI assistants that send you work. It ships with the SEO and structured data built in from day one — clean metadata, JSON-LD schema, a sitemap, and an llms.txt so AI engines can quote you accurately — not bolted on after launch.
You get the whole thing in your own hands: the source in your Git repository, the site running on your Cloudflare account, the domain in your name, and a short runbook for how to deploy a change. No proprietary builder, no lock-in, and no recurring fee to me just to stay published. If you want to take it from there yourself, you can; if you want me to keep iterating, the door is open.
How I work it, and why me
The stack is deliberately boring and durable: Astro, Tailwind, and TypeScript, deployed to Cloudflare Pages and Workers, with KV or D1 when a project needs to store data. Static where it can be, dynamic where it has to be, and secure by default — strict content-security and other hardening headers come standard, because securing systems is the rest of my work.
Same method I bring to every engagement: I scope the build to a defined window, work from a plan, and leave you with deliverables you can maintain. Beyond brochure sites I build internal tools and authenticated web apps — the kind with logins, dashboards, and background jobs.
The proof is in front of you: this site itself — fast, accessible, hardened, and built on exactly this stack. With about four years of production infrastructure experience behind the work, you are hiring someone who understands the server, the network, and the security model under the site — not only the front-end.
- Marketing sites: fast, accessible, SEO-ready brochure and lead-generation sites.
- Web apps: internal tools and authenticated apps on Pages Functions and Workers, with KV or D1 storage.
- Built in: structured data, sitemap, llms.txt, and security headers from the first deploy.
- Yours to keep: source in your repo, hosting on your account, domain in your name.
If you need a site or an internal tool that is fast, secure, and actually yours, tell me what it has to do and I will come back the same day with a fit assessment and either a quote or a referral.
Common questions
Do you work fully remote?
Yes. Web work is remote-first end to end — design, build, and deploy all happen over the repo and a video call or two. I am based in Fort Worth and happy to meet in person anywhere in the Dallas–Fort Worth metro if you prefer a kickoff face to face.
Do I own the site and the code when we are done?
Completely. The source lives in your repository, the site runs on your own Cloudflare account, and the domain stays in your name. There is no proprietary builder to stay locked into and no monthly fee to me to keep the lights on.
Can you build a web app, not just a marketing site?
Yes. Beyond brochure sites I build internal tools and authenticated web apps on Cloudflare Pages Functions and Workers, with KV or D1 for storage — the kind with logins, dashboards, and background jobs.
Have a project like this?
Tell me the environment, the timeline, and your constraints. I reply the same business day with a fit assessment and either a quote or a referral.
